Demolition has begun on the highly anticipated Montelisse Luxury Residences in Lionshead Village.

Montelisse is a planned luxury residential redevelopment on East Lionshead Circle in Vail. With 37 residences outlined by OZ Architecture and demolition of the Lions Pride Building now under way, the project is one to watch for owners and buyers following the evolution of Lionshead.

Demolition has begun in Lionshead at 500 East Lionshead Circle for the new Hyder Construction as the contractor and says excavation, shoring, and construction would follow pending building-permit approval.

On its Montelisse project page, OZ Architecture describes a six-story development at 534 East Lionshead Circle with 37 luxury residences, homeowner amenities, and three levels of underground parking. The architect lists the project’s scale at 103,000 square feet.

The design also includes a public art exhibit and a grand staircase connecting to the central part of Lionshead Village. The new state of the art building will enhance the entrance to Lionshead and greatly improve the experience moving between East Lionshead Circle and Vail Square. This will also complete the traffic flow around the existing Vail 21 building increasing the overall pedestrian mall areas.

The subject property will take over two former addresses; 500 and 534 East Lionshead Circle with an underground tunnel for two-way vehicle traffic in front of the building. Public art has also been part of the planning conversation. The Town’s August 3 Art in Public Places agenda included a Montelisse discussion and a project presentation.

From a real estate perspective, Montelisse provides a useful case study in how new residential construction can fit into an established mountain village. Its planned homes, amenities, parking, and pedestrian connection offer several features that will make this condominium offering unique.
