Phase two will begin in late September, with the work scheduled for completion before The Amp’s 40th anniversary season in 2027.

The Vail Valley Foundation has confirmed that the next phase of its $19 million transformation of the Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater will begin in late September 2026. Scheduled for completion by early April 2027, the work will expand the east and south concession areas, enlarge the loading dock and upgrade utility infrastructure throughout the venue.

The improvements are designed to shorten food-and-beverage lines, broaden menu options and make concert production more efficient for visiting artists and crews. Phase one, completed in spring 2026, included new pavilion seating, handrails, concrete repairs, fresh paint and an expanded sound and production booth.

A third and final phase will add a larger box office, renovated backstage facilities and a new two-story north concessions building with studio and event space. The entire project is expected to be finished by May 25, 2028. The Vail Valley Foundation says the completed renovation could expand peak-season programming by 25 percent and add several million dollars annually to the Town of Vail’s economic impact—strengthening one of the community’s defining cultural amenities.
